Battle of Fleurus

Arc de Triomphe: FLEURUS
June 26, 1794
An Austrian-Dutch army led by Prince Josias von Coburg attempted to relieve the French siege of Charleroi. Unfortunately for the Austrians, the French army commanded by General Jourdan had successfully taken the city the day before and was now free to focus on his force. Both armies met near Charleroi and after fierce fighting, the Austrians withdrew and abandoned Belgium.
