Battle of Hondschoote
Arc de Triomphe: HONDSCHOOTTE
September 6, 1793 - September 8, 1793
General Houchard led the French Army of the North into action in an attempt to lift the siege of Dunkirk. Covering the siege was a combined Austrian, Hessian, and Dutch force commanded by General Freytag. The superior number of French troops led to the Allied withdrawal, causing the siege of Dunkirk to be abandoned.
