Battle of La Rothière
January 30, 1814
Having lost La Rothière, Field Marshal Blucher aimed to retake the town with a sizable force of 53,000 troops against Napoleon's 40,000 soldiers, many of which were conscripts who had not yet seen action. The French held their own throughout the battle and withdrew in good order once darkness fell.
